Discover the majesty of Colca Canyon on an exciting twoday tour from Arequipa. From the breathtaking flight of condors at Cruz del Condor to the refreshing oasis of Sangalle, this journey will take you through spectacular landscapes and unforgettable experiences in one of the world’s deepest canyons.
ITINERARIO
DAY 1: AREQUIPA / CABANACONDE / SANGALLE
We depart early, between 03:00am and 03:30am, picking up passengers from their hotels in Arequipa. After approximately four hours of travel, we arrive in Chivay, the main town in Colca Valley, where we’ll make a brief stop for breakfast. We continue towards Cabanaconde, from where we begin our descent into Colca Canyon, enjoying spectacular views along the way. We cross the bridge to San Juan de Chuccho, where we stop for lunch at a local restaurant with mountain views. We continue towards Cosnihua, approximately an hour more on steep terrain, and then towards Malata on a flatter path, ending in Sangalle (Oasis), a beautiful spot nestled among the mountains where we can refresh in local pools. Dinner and overnight stay in basic cabins.
DAY 2: SANGALLE / CABANACONDE / CHIVAY / AREQUIPA
We start the ascent at 04:30am on a zigzagging and steep trail; approximately three hours of walking will take us back to Cabanaconde. We have breakfast at a local restaurant and then head to the Cruz del Condor viewpoint, known for its stunning view of Colca Canyon and frequent condor sightings. We return to Chivay and, optionally, visit the La Calera hot springs for relaxation. We have lunch in Chivay and begin our return to Arequipa, arriving between 17:00 and 18:00 hours.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Wear comfortable clothing and a light jacket, use sunscreen and a hat for sun protection, stay hydrated, and bring a camera to capture landscapes and condor flights. If visiting hot springs, bring your swimsuit and towel, and always respect the natural environment during the tour.
