ITINERARY Inca Trail 4 Days
DAY 1: CUSCO – KM 82 – HATUNCHACA – WAYLLABAMBA – AYAPATA

DAY 1: CUSCO – KM 82 – HATUNCHACA – WAYLLABAMBA – AYAPATA
🚐 Early departure: The Inca Trail 4 Days Machu Picchu adventure begins at 4:30 a.m. with pickup from your hotel in Cusco. You’ll travel in a private van to Km 82 (Piskacucho), the official trailhead.
🍽️ Breakfast and preparation: Before starting, enjoy a hearty breakfast in Ollantaytambo around 6:30 a.m. At Km 82 (2,720 m), hand your duffel to the porter, apply sunscreen, and check in at the control point.
🥾 Scenic trekking: Begin hiking on a flat section known as “Inca flat,” with views of the Vilcanota River, Huillca Raccay, Llactapata ruins, and Veronica mountain.
🍽️ Lunch and final stretch: After lunch in Hatunchaca, continue three more hours to Ayapata campsite (3,300 m). Your tent will be ready and warm tea will be waiting.
🌙 Camping: At night, temperatures may drop to 5°C. Prepare warm clothes for a comfortable rest.

🗓️ Day 2: Wayllabamba – Warmiwañusca Pass – Pacaymayu – Chaquicocha
🌄 Wake-up call: Start your day at 5:30 a.m. with hot tea or coffee delivered to your tent.
🥾 Most challenging day: Begin the climb to Warmiwañusca Pass (4,215 m), the highest point on the Inca Trail 4 Days Machu Picchu. You’ll spot hummingbirds and Polylepis trees along the way.
🍽️ Lunch and recovery: After celebrating the summit, descend to Pacaymayu (3,550 m) for lunch and rest.
⛰️ Second ascent: Then hike uphill to Runkuraqay Pass (4,000 m) and continue downhill to Chaquicocha campsite (3,600 m), where dinner and tea await.
❄️ At night, temperatures can fall to 4°C, so keep warm.

Day 3: Chaquicocha – Phuyupatamarca – Intipata – Wiñay Wayna
🌅 Stunning scenery: This is the most visually breathtaking day of the trail. After breakfast at 6:00 a.m., hike gradually toward Phuyupatamarca (3,680 m), also called “Town in the Clouds.”
🏛️ Archaeological wonders: Visit the site, then descend 3,000 steps through the lush cloud forest. Stop at Intipata, where you’ll learn about Inca agriculture.
🍽️ Final campsite: Arrive at Wiñay Wayna (2,680 m), your last campsite, near sacred terraces and ceremonial structures. You’ll have time to explore before dinner.

DAY 4: WIÑAY WAYNA – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

Day 4: Wiñay Wayna – Sun Gate – Machu Picchu – Cusco
⏰ Early morning: Wake at 3:30 a.m., enjoy breakfast at 4:00 a.m., and wait at the checkpoint opening at 5:30 a.m. Hike toward Inti Punku (Sun Gate), where you’ll get your first magical view of Machu Picchu.
📸 Iconic arrival: Descend 40 minutes to the Guardian’s House. Drop off gear and take the classic photo.
🏛️ Guided tour: Join a 2-hour guided tour exploring Machu Picchu’s religious, agricultural, and residential zones. Then, explore on your own or climb Huayna Picchu (with advance booking).
🚆 Return journey: Head to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included), and board the Expedition train around 2:55 or 3:20 p.m. Once in Ollantaytambo, a private driver will take you back to Cusco.
