ITINERARY Ausangate Trek 3 Days
DAY 1: CUSCO - UPIS - ARAPA PASS - HATUN PUCACOCHA

DAY 1: CUSCO – UPIS – ARAPA PASS – HATUN PUCACOCHA
🕓 Early departure: We pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 5:00 a.m. in private transport. After approximately 3 hours, we arrive at the small village of Upis (3,850 m), where we meet our team of horsemen and horses. Here, we enjoy a hot breakfast with a view of the Ausangate snow-capped mountain.
🥾 Start of the hike: We begin the hike with a gradual ascent of about 3 hours to the lunch spot, surrounded by mountains and lakes. After lunch, we continue hiking for approximately 2 hours towards the Arapa Pass (4,800 m), from where we can appreciate impressive landscapes of the Vilcanota mountain range.
🏕️ Camp at Hatun Pucacocha: We descend towards the Yanacocha and Hatun Pucacocha lakes, surrounded by glaciers and snow-capped peaks. We arrive at the campsite next to Hatun Pucacocha lake, where we spend the night in comfortable tents. Our cook prepares a hot dinner, and we can observe the stars in a clear and pure sky at high altitude.

DAY 2: HATUNPUCACOCHA - PUCACOCHA PASS - ANANTAPATA - SURINECOCHA

DAY 2: HATUNPUCACOCHA – PUCACOCHA PASS – ANANTAPATA – SURINECOCHA
🌄 We begin the day early with a hot drink delivered to your tent. As the sunlight hits the snowy peaks, you’ll enjoy a hearty breakfast with incredible views of Ausangate.
🥾 Our hike starts with a 2-hour ascent to Puca Pass (4,870 m), offering breathtaking views of the turquoise Huchuy and Hatun Pucacocha lakes. Along the way, you’ll be surrounded by the raw beauty of the Andes.
🍽️ After a gradual descent, we reach Anantapata where we’ll stop for lunch in a peaceful valley. Then, following a well-deserved rest, we continue uphill to Warmisaya Pass (4,985 m), the highest point of the day. From here, you’ll catch your first distant glimpse of Rainbow Mountain.
⛺ We end the day descending a winding trail to our private campsite in Surinecocha, located next to a tranquil lake. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed with hot water, a delicious dinner, and a calm night under the stars.

DAY 3: SURINECOCHA – RAINBOW MOUNTAIN – RED VALLEY -LLACTO – CUSCO
🌅 We start early to enjoy the serenity of the morning. After a nutritious breakfast, we begin the 2-hour ascent to Rainbow Mountain, reaching the trek’s highest point at 5,100 m.
📸 From the viewpoint, you’ll admire spectacular panoramic views of the Vinicunca ridge and the distant Ausangate glacier. Your guide will explain the geology, history, and cultural significance of this sacred site, famous for its natural rainbow-striped appearance.
📷 After capturing unforgettable photos without crowds, we descend to Llacto village. Here, we’ll enjoy our final group lunch together.
🚐 Lastly, we return in our private transport to Cusco, arriving around 4:00 p.m. and dropping you off directly at your hotel.
