Itinerario

Upon your arrival in Lima, we will be waiting for you at Jorge Chávez Airport with a sign bearing your name to warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. In the afternoon, at 2:00 pm, we will begin the City Tour in Lima, starting with a panoramic view of the Pucllana Pyramid. We will visit the Historic Center, passing by the Plaza Mayor, Government Palace, and Cathedral. We’ll also explore the Central Bank Museum and the San Francisco Catacombs. Finally, we will tour modern Lima, including El Olivar de San Isidro, Miraflores, Larcomar, and the Love Park.

On the second day, we will transfer you from your hotel to Jorge Chávez Airport 1 hour and 30 minutes before your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival, our staff will greet you at Velasco Astete Airport and take you to your hotel to acclimate. In the afternoon, at 1:00 pm, we’ll begin a guided tour of the Imperial City of Cusco, where you’ll witness the blend of Andean and Spanish cultures. We will visit the Santo Domingo Convent on the Qoricancha, the center of worship to the Sun God, and then explore the archaeological sites of Sacsayhuamán, Qenqo, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay. We’ll end the day by returning to your hotel in Cusco.

We start the day at 6:30 am when your guide picks you up at your hotel in Cusco in our tourist van. On the way to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, we’ll visit Chinchero, where you’ll see a colonial adobe church built on the foundations of an ancient Inca temple and explore archaeological ruins and terraces attributed to the Inca Tupac Yupanqui.

The next stop is the archaeological site of Moray, also known as “The Incas’ Greenhouse.” We will then visit the salt mines of Maras, ancient pre-Inca salt pans where pink salt is harvested. After about 20 minutes exploring, we’ll continue to Urubamba for lunch. Finally, we’ll reach Ollantaytambo to explore its ruins and the Sun Temple with our guide, with free time to stroll through the town and its artisan market. At 7:00 pm, you’ll take the train to Aguas Calientes, where our staff will be waiting to take you to your hotel.

This is the day you’ve been waiting for. After breakfast, according to the time on your ticket and in coordination with the guide, you will take the bus from Aguas Calientes up to Machu Picchu (2450 meters above sea level), a 30-minute journey. At the scheduled time, your 2-hour guided tour will begin, visiting sites such as the Main Square, Sun Observatory, Guardian’s House, Temple of the Three Windows, and more. Those who have reserved the Huayna Picchu mountain hike may do so after the tour. This itinerary allows you to enjoy Machu Picchu at a leisurely pace, take photos, and have lunch in Aguas Calientes. In the afternoon, you will take the return train to Ollantaytambo, where our driver will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Cusco.

We’ll pick you up from your hotel at 6:20 am to take you to the tourist bus terminal heading to Puno (altitude 3818 m.a.s.l.).

The bus is equipped with restrooms and has a driver, a bilingual guide, and an attendant. We will visit Andahuaylillas Church, known as the Sistine Chapel of South America, and then continue to Raqchi to see the Inca temple of Wiracocha.

Afterward, we’ll enjoy a buffet lunch in Sicuani. We’ll visit La Raya, the highest point of the journey at 4,335 meters, and then go to Pucará to see the Lithic Museum. Finally, we’ll arrive in Puno, where our staff will transfer you to your hotel.

At 7:00 am, we’ll pick you up at your hotel to transfer you to the port and start the boat tour to the “Uros Islands,” arriving around 7:20 am. These islands are built with totora reeds, and the guide will share information about Lake Titicaca and the Uros culture. We will then visit Taquile Island, famous for its high-quality textiles. You’ll have free time in the main square for shopping, followed by lunch at 12:40 pm. We will depart from Taquile at 2:30 pm, arriving in Puno at 5:30 pm, where we will transfer you to your hotel.

This day you’ll have the morning free to rest or explore. In the afternoon, we’ll tour the “White City,” including the Santa Catalina Convent, undoubtedly the gem of Arequipa, opened to the public in 1970 after 400 years of seclusion, with countless pieces of colonial art. You will also visit the Plaza de Armas, the cloisters of the Church of the Company of Jesus, and the Cayma and Yanahuara neighborhoods, offering magnificent views of El Misti Volcano. You’ll also visit a traditional colonial house known as the Founder’s Mansion. In the evening, we’ll stay at the hotel.

Early in the morning, you’ll embark on a 4-hour journey to the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest in the world (3,400 m). On the way, we’ll cross Pampa Cañahuas in the Aguada Blanca National Reserve, where you can see vicuñas and alpacas. We’ll reach the highest point of the route at 4,900 meters, passing through pre-Columbian terraces, the Chucura snow-capped mountain, the Toqra lagoons, and the Andes Viewpoint at Patapampa, with views of Ampato and Hualca-Hualca snow peaks.

We’ll arrive in Chivay, where you’ll have lunch and settle into your hotel. You’re encouraged to rest or, if you feel up for it, explore the surroundings or enjoy the hot springs. Dinner on your own, with an optional folkloric music show in the evening.

We will start the tour at 12:50 pm (time of your choice), we will introduce you to the Imperial City of Cusco, a living example of the mixture of Andean and Spanish culture. Continuing your journey, you will visit the Convent of Santo Domingo built on top of the Koricancha, as well as the ancient Inca Palace and the main center of worship of the Sun God. Our tour continues to the truly impressive archaeological site of Sacsayhuaman and its Inca military architecture, which dominates the city below. Finally, we explore the archaeological sites of Qenqo, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay, located in the northeast of the city. We will return to your hotel in Cusco in the early afternoon.

We start at 6:30 AM with a pickup from your Cusco hotel for a Sacred Valley tour. First, we visit Chincheros, known for its terraces, niches, and drainage system. Next is Moray, the «Greenhouse of the Incas,» with its bowl-shaped terraces for agricultural experimentation. Today is the day you’ve been eagerly anticipating! We will pick you up from your hotel between 3:50 to 4:00 AM and head to Ollantaytambo station (approximately 2 hours). From there, you will board the train for a scenic 2hour journey to the aweinspiring Machu Picchu. Upon arrival at the village, our transfer will meet you to provide instructions and assist you in boarding a bus to Machu Picchu, where you’ll arrive just intime to witness the sunrise.

Machu Picchu is a truly extraordinary site, and your guide will lead a comprehensive tour lasting about two hours. You will explore the citadel’s most significant areas and learn about its division into agricultural, residential, and religious sectors.

After your tour, those who have prebooked hikes to Huayna Picchu Mountain will have the opportunity to enjoy those breathtaking views on their own. Once you’ve soaked in the splendor of Machu Picchu, you will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included). Depending on your train’s departure time, you may have the chance to shop, explore, visit the museum, or relax in the hot springs.

The Expedition train will depart at 4:40 PM, tracing the scenic route alongside the Urubamba River. As you near Aguas Calientes, marvel at the narrow canyon and the river’s stunning whitewater sections. You may even catch a glimpse of Wiñay Wayna from the train, perched high on the canyon wall! Upon arrival in Ollantaytambo, your driver will be waiting outside the station to transfer you back to Cusco in our van. Expect to arrive in Cusco around 8:40 PM.

This unforgettable day begins at 4:30 AM when your guide picks you up from your hotel in Cusco. We will embark on a scenic 3-hour drive to the Soraypampa trailhead, nestled in the verdant valley of the Apurimac River. Upon arrival, we will enjoy a hearty breakfast at a local restaurant. Our trek follows the ancient «Camino Real» trail, gradually ascending in altitude. After passing through a quaint traditional village, we continue upwards for another hour and a half, gaining 1,200 feet (366 meters) in just 2 miles along a steep path.

As we conquer the final ascent, a stunning turquoise lake awaits us, surrounded by towering peaks and a majestic glacier. Along the way, you will have a direct view of Mount Salkantay, standing at 6,279 meters with its snow-capped peak, a sacred mountain in Peruvian culture. Additionally, the impressive Pico Humantay, reaching 5,917 meters, graces the landscape. Many followers of traditional Andean beliefs offer blessings upon reaching the pristine waters of Humantay Lake. Upon reaching the lakeshore, you can relax or express gratitude to Pachamama (Mother Earth).

Afterwards, we descend back to Soraypampa for a hot lunch in the village, surrounded by breathtaking panoramic vistas of the snow-capped peaks. At the end of this fulfilling day, we return to Cusco, dropping you off near the main square around 5:00 PM.

We will pick you up from your hotel at 4:30 AM for the Rainbow Mountain Trek. The scenic 3-hour drive through the South Valley ends at Llacto (4,638 m / 15,216 ft). After breakfast and views of alpacas and llamas, we start our hike along a stream with views of Mount Ausangate. Interact with local Quechua-speaking communities along the way. After a 1.5-hour hike, we reach Rainbow Mountain (5,020 m / 16,466 ft), spending about 30 minutes at the summit. Optionally, hike to the top of Red Valley, then return for lunch. We drive back to Cusco, arriving around 5:00 PM. At 10:00 PM, take the bus to Puerto Maldonado.

Upon arrival at the airport or bus station, our team will welcome you and transfer you to the Monte Amazónico Lodge office for a brief orientation. Then, we will take a onehour boat ride to our lodge, where we will offer you a refreshing juice made from regional fruits.

After settling in, we will take a guided walk through the rainforest. During this excursion, you can see centuriesold trees and a variety of wildlife such as toucans, parrots, monkeys, snakes, and butterflies in the Tambopata National Reserve.

After lunch, we will visit the «Monkey Island» to observe various species of monkeys such as the brown capuchin and squirrel monkey. We will return to the lodge for dinner, and in the evening, we will go out to look for caimans along the banks of the Madre de Dios River. With luck, we might also see capybaras, the largest rodents in the world.

We wake up early, at 4:30 am, to head to the Collpa Chuncho, the largest macaw clay lick in the world. The boat trip takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, during which we might spot capybaras, tapirs, and even jaguars.

At the clay lick, we will observe hundreds of parrots and the three most colorful species of macaws in America that gather to eat clay, creating an impressive natural spectacle. After a good breakfast, we will take the boat back to Puerto Maldonado and then to the lodge to settle in.

After lunch, we will visit the «Monkey Island,» where we will find various species of capuchin monkeys. In the evening, we will go out in search of white caimans along the banks of the Madre de Dios River and, with luck, see capybaras. We will return to the lodge for dinner and rest.

After breakfast, we will walk 3 km through the dense rainforest to Sandoval Lake, one of the largest in the Tambopata National Reserve and home to piranhas. We will take a boat ride, observing a wide variety of birds and monkeys of different species, such as shanshos, cormorants, jacanas, herons, vultures, howler monkeys, black capuchin monkeys, squirrel monkeys, tamarins, and sloths.

We might also encounter a family of giant otters, which reach almost two meters in length and are endangered, and the largest caimans recorded, over 4 meters long.

Then, we will return to the lodge for a typical lunch. In the evening, we will take a walk to appreciate the diversity of insects, amphibians, reptiles, and other nocturnal animals. Finally, we will enjoy dinner and rest.

At 5:30 a.m., we will start a small walk on the Canopy Walkway, 30 meters high, allowing us to appreciate nature from above and enjoy a panoramic view of the Madre de Dios River. After breakfast, we will return to the city and transfer you to the airport or bus station.
