ITINERARY Macaw Clay Lick Tambopata

DAY 1: PUERTO MALDONADO – TAMBOPATA RIVER – MONTE AMAZÓNICO LODGE

🛬 Upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado, we’ll transfer you to the Monte Amazónico Lodge office for check-in. If you bring large luggage, we suggest repacking only essentials.

🚙 We drive for 2 hours in a 4×4 vehicle to the Tambopata River and board a motorized boat to the lodge. After a warm welcome and room assignment, we enjoy a delicious lunch.

🌳 In the afternoon, we set off on an introductory walk through the tropical rainforest. Here, you might spot amphibians, reptiles, monkeys, and other exotic creatures in their natural habitat.

DAY 2: MACAW CLAY LICK – TAMBOPATA RESERVE – BOTANICAL GARDEN – PUERTO MALDONADO

🌄 At 4:30 a.m., we depart by boat along the Tambopata River toward the Macaw Clay Lick Tambopata, located inside the Tambopata National Reserve. During the 90-minute journey, there’s a good chance of seeing capybaras, tapirs, or even jaguars.

🦜 Upon arrival, enjoy one of the most spectacular natural events: hundreds of parrots and macaws—red, green, blue, and yellow—gather to eat mineral-rich clay.

☕ After returning to the lodge for breakfast and rest, we visit a botanical garden where your guide will explain the uses of medicinal, fruit-bearing, and timber plants. Finally, we head back to Puerto Maldonado for your return transfer to the airport or bus station.
