Located at 4,200 meters above sea level, this sublime lagoon with crystal-clear, turquoise waters is the starting point for the 5-day trek to Machu Picchu via the Salkantay route. From a nearby mountain summit, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of this natural treasure, making it an unforgettable experience that will remain in your memory forever.
ITINERARIO
Our team will pick you up at your hotel at approximately 4:30 a.m. to begin our unforgettable oneday tour to Humantay Lagoon. After a two and a half hour van ride, we will arrive at the picturesque town of Mollepata, where we will enjoy a comforting breakfast.
Then we will continue to Soraypampa, from where we will start a moderate hike of one and a half to two hours to reach Humantay Lagoon. Here you will have time to take in the impressive landscape and capture memorable photos before returning to Mollepata for a traditional lunch.
After lunch, we will begin the journey back to Cusco, finishing our tour at approximately 6:30 p.m.
RECOMMENDATIONS
We recommend dressing in warm layers to accommodate sudden weather changes. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen, preferably SPF 90 or higher, and bring sunglasses and a hat to shield yourself from the strong sun at high altitudes. During the rainy season, a waterproof poncho is essential. Make sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring plenty of water to stay hydrated during the hike.
