ITINERARIO

Our tour starts at 7:30 a.m. with the pick-up from your hotel in our tourist transport. We will head to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, taking the direct route to Pisac. First, we will stop at  Taray viewpoint to enjoy a panoramic view of Urubamba Valley, with its crops covering the mountains like a colorful carpet. Then, we will visit  Pisac archaeological site, where the largest Inca cemetery is located, with over 2000 tombs. Here, we will admire the impressive agricultural terraces carved into the mountainside, explore the Inca tunnels, and the religious area of this important citadel. We will spend over two hours exploring this fascinating place. Afterwards, we will return to the colorful Pisac market, where we will have time to shop for crafts and souvenirs. Later, we will head to Urubamba for lunch. Continuing after lunch, we will go to Ollantaytambo, where we will explore the ancient bustling Inca village and its imposing ruins with the guidance of our expert. Finally, at 7 p.m., we will take the train to Aguas Calientes, where we will spend the night in a hotel.

This is the day you’ve been waiting for! After breakfast, 30 minutes before your entry time, you will take one of the buses up to Machu Picchu. It’s a truly extraordinary site and not something you’ll want to miss! Your guide will give you a tour, which lasts approximately two hours. You will see most of the important parts of the Machu Picchu citadel. You will also learn how Machu Picchu is divided into three sectors: agricultural, residential, and religious. After your tour, those who have booked in advance for additional hikes to Huayna Picchu mountain will have time to enjoy those views on their own. Once you have taken in the exceptional views of Machu Picchu, you will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included). Depending on your train departure time, you may also have time for some shopping, sightseeing, or visiting the museum or hot springs. The Expedition train will take you back to Ollantaytambo at 4:00 p.m., following the spectacular Urubamba River. Near Aguas Calientes, the canyon is narrow, and the river has many beautiful sections of white water. You can also see Wiñay Wayna from the train if you look up at the steep canyon wall! Back in Ollantaytambo, your driver will meet you at the train station to take you back to Cusco in our van. You can expect to arrive in Cusco around 8:00 p.m.

We will pick you up at 8:30 a.m. to start the journey to Chinchero, where you will explore a 17th-century colonial church built on Inca foundations, as well as ruins and agricultural terraces attributed to Inca Tupac Yupanqui. Then, we will visit the Salt Mines of Maras, a complex of 3,000 pools where salt is processed from a thermal spring.

Afterward, we will head to Moray, an archaeological site with agricultural terraces used by the Incas to experiment with microclimates and optimize their crops. Finally, we will return to your hotel in Cusco.

The day begins at 4:30 a.m. when your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco. After a 3-hour drive to Soraypampa, in the Apurímac River valley, we will enjoy a hot breakfast at a local restaurant.

We will start our hike along the «Royal Path,» gradually ascending. After passing a small traditional village, we will continue climbing a steep trail for about an hour and a half, gaining 366 meters in height.

Upon overcoming the last hill, we will be rewarded with the view of a turquoise lake, surrounded by rugged peaks and an impressive glacier. During the hike, we will see the majestic Salkantay Mountain, which rises to 6,279 meters, and the impressive Humantay Peak, reaching 5,917 meters. Upon reaching Humantay Lake, shamans and followers of Andean beliefs often give their blessing to the crystal-clear waters. We can relax and give thanks to Pachamama (Mother Earth).

Afterward, we will descend to Soraypampa for a hot lunch with panoramic views of the snowy peaks. Finally, we will return to Cusco, arriving near the main square around 5 p.m.

Explore Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire and gateway to Machu Picchu

We will start the tour at 8:30 am or 12:50 pm (your choice of time), introducing you to the Imperial City of Cusco, a living example of the blend of Andean and Spanish cultures. Continuing your journey, you will visit the Convent of Santo Domingo built over the Koricancha, as well as the ancient Inca Palace and the main center of worship for the Sun God. Our tour continues to the truly impressive archaeological site of Sacsayhuaman and its Inca military architecture, which dominates the city below. Finally, we will explore the archaeological sites of Qenqo, Puca Pucará, and Tambomachay, located in the northeast of the city. We will return to your hotel in Cusco early in the afternoon.

We start our incredible Rainbow Mountain Trek adventure by picking you up from your hotel at 4:30 am. We will travel 3 hours through the South Valley to reach the trailhead at Llacto (4,638 m / 15,216 ft). Along the way, you will enjoy stunning views of Inca agricultural terraces, traditional villages, and high Andean peaks. The nearby alpacas and llamas will provide early morning entertainment during your breakfast.

Starting the hike, we will follow a beautiful stream with views of the Ausangate Mountain and its glaciers. You will have the opportunity to interact with the locals and learn about their traditional Quechua culture and attire.

After a 1.5-hour hike, we will reach our destination, Rainbow Mountain (5,020 m / 16,466 ft). You will have time to explore, take photos, and enjoy the view for about 30 minutes. Then, you can choose an additional hike to the top of the Red Valley, which takes around 45 minutes.

We will return the same way, with a 1-hour hike to the spot where we will enjoy our lunch. Then, we will head back to Cusco, arriving around 5:00 p.m. At 8:50 p.m., you will board the bus to Puerto Maldonado.

Upon arrival at the airport or bus station, our team will welcome you and transfer you to the Monte Amazónico Lodge office for a brief orientation. Then, we will take a one-hour boat ride to our lodge, where we will offer you a refreshing juice made from regional fruits.

After settling in, we will take a guided walk through the rainforest. During this excursion, you can see centuries-old trees and a variety of wildlife such as toucans, parrots, monkeys, snakes, and butterflies in the Tambopata National Reserve.

After lunch, we will visit the «Monkey Island» to observe various species of monkeys such as the brown capuchin and squirrel monkey. We will return to the lodge for dinner, and in the evening, we will go out to look for caimans along the banks of the Madre de Dios River. With luck, we might also see capybaras, the largest rodents in the world.

We wake up early, at 4:30 am, to head to the Collpa Chuncho, the largest macaw clay lick in the world. The boat trip takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, during which we might spot capybaras, tapirs, and even jaguars.

At the clay lick, we will observe hundreds of parrots and the three most colorful species of macaws in America that gather to eat clay, creating an impressive natural spectacle. After a good breakfast, we will take the boat back to Puerto Maldonado and then to the lodge to settle in.

After lunch, we will visit the «Monkey Island,» where we will find various species of capuchin monkeys. In the evening, we will go out in search of white caimans along the banks of the Madre de Dios River and, with luck, see capybaras. We will return to the lodge for dinner and rest.

After breakfast, we will walk 3 km through the dense rainforest to Sandoval Lake, one of the largest in the Tambopata National Reserve and home to piranhas. We will take a boat ride, observing a wide variety of birds and monkeys of different species, such as shanshos, cormorants, jacanas, herons, vultures, howler monkeys, black capuchin monkeys, squirrel monkeys, tamarins, and sloths.

We might also encounter a family of giant otters, which reach almost two meters in length and are endangered, and the largest caimans recorded, over 4 meters long.

Then, we will return to the lodge for a typical lunch. In the evening, we will take a walk to appreciate the diversity of insects, amphibians, reptiles, and other nocturnal animals. Finally, we will enjoy dinner and rest.

At 5:30 a.m., we will start a small walk on the Canopy Walkway, 30 meters high, allowing us to appreciate nature from above and enjoy a panoramic view of the Madre de Dios River. From the platforms, we will observe different species of birds such as toucans, macaws, tanagers, and orioles. It will be a wonderful experience.

After breakfast, we will return to the city and transfer you to the airport or bus station.
