ITINERARIO

Upon arrival at the airport or bus station, you’ll be transferred to the Lodge for final tour arrangements before setting off on your adventure. We recommend repacking large luggage to carry only essentials.

Enjoy a scenic 2-hour 4×4 transfer to the Tambopata River banks; river travel takes over 6 hours. From there, a boat ride brings you to Monte Amazonico – Tambopata Lodge, where a warm welcome and a meal await, depending on your arrival time.

In the afternoon, join us for an introductory rainforest walk, offering glimpses of diverse wildlife in their natural habitats, including amphibians, mammals, reptiles, and fascinating insects.

Early at 4:30 am, we set off by boat for El Chuncho, the world’s largest macaw clay lick, a journey of about 1.5 hours. Along the way, spot capybaras, tapirs, and possibly jaguars—captured in photos by many guests. Witness hundreds of parrots and macaws gathering to eat clay, vital for their diet and detox. After breakfast, return to Puerto Maldonado by boat, then transfer to our lodge with a welcoming fruit juice. Enjoy lunch before visiting Monkey Island, home to various monkey species. Evening brings a thrilling caiman search on the Madre de Dios River, followed by dinner and rest at the lodge.

After breakfast, we embark on a 3 km walk through the dense rainforest toward Lake Sandoval, known for its piranha population and as one of Tambopata National Reserve’s largest lakes. Here, we glide in a rowboat, observing a variety of bird species such as shanshos, cormorants, jacanas, puma herons, buzzards, howler monkeys, brown capuchin monkeys, tamarins, and sloths. There’s a chance to encounter the endangered giant river otter family, nearly two meters long. Afterward, we return to the lodge for a typical lunch.

In the evening, we have another opportunity for a guided walk to observe diverse species of insects, amphibians, reptiles, and nocturnal animals, followed by dinner and rest at the lodge..

At 5:30 a.m., we start our morning in the jungle with a brief walk to our canopy walkway, elevated approximately 30 meters above ground level. This unique vantage point offers an unparalleled view of nature and a panoramic perspective of the Madre de Dios River. From the platforms, we can observe a diverse array of bird species, such as toucans, macaws, tanagers, and orioles, making it a truly remarkable experience.

After breakfast, we return to the city with transfers available to both the airport and bus station
