ITINERARIO
DAY 1: IQUITOS CITY – NAUTA PORT – PACAYA SAMIRIA RESERVE
Early morning departure from Iquitos City by private vehicle, arriving at the port town of Nauta in about 1.5 hours, where breakfast will be served.
Board a private motorboat for an upstream journey on the Marañon River, passing the impressive confluence of the Ucayali and Marañon rivers, which together form the Amazon River.
Navigate approximately 50 miles southwest into the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, a journey taking about 2.5 hours from Nauta. Upon arrival at the reserve’s entrance checkpoint, passengers will undergo identification procedures.
Set up the first camp upon reaching the Arequipa community, where lunch will be served.
Observe a variety of bird species such as egrets, hawks, horned screamers, jacanas, parrots, and parakeets, with chances to see Amazon River dolphins.
After sunset, embark on a canoe excursion to observe and potentially capture caimans, offering opportunities to interact with and photograph these creatures.
Return to camp for dinner and spend the night in tents at the Pacaya Samiria Reserve.
DAY 2: PACAYA SAMIRIA RESERVE – SHANSHO LAKE
Early morning breakfast at the campsite. Depart and cruise along the Rio Marañon for approximately 3 hours to the Shansho Cocha Lake area.
High likelihood of encountering primates, reptiles, turtles, birds, pink river dolphins, and a diverse array of flora and fauna along the riverbanks.
Set up camp and have lunch. Experience the «jungle of mirrors» phenomenon with reflective black waters.
Afternoon fishing for piranhas, peacock bass, and other native fish species. Dinner at camp.
Night walk to observe nocturnal species like lizards, snakes, spiders, and monkeys. Overnight in tents within the Pacaya Samiria Reserve.
DAY 3: PACAYA SAMIRIA RESERVE – YANAQUILLO CREEK
Early breakfast and depart downstream towards Iquitos city. Observe a variety of birds including cotingas, macaws, parrots, and the majestic Harpy Eagle.
Venture into Yanaquillo Creek to spot squirrel monkeys, saddleback tamarins, and sloths.
Marvel at towering Lupuna, Capirona, and Capinurí trees. Spot colorful birds like toucans, Red Macaws, Blue-and-Yellow Macaws, Great Egrets, and Amazon Kingfishers.
Lunch midday and after dinner, a nighttime boat excursion to search for nocturnal animals. Overnight stay in tents within the Pacaya Samiria Reserve.
DAY 4: YANAQUILLO CREEK – NAUTA PORT – IQUITOS CITY
Early breakfast and prepare for the final excursion into the Pac
